Enticed Virgins Have Value Exodus 22:16"If a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay the bride-price for her to be his wife. 17If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the bride-price of virgins. (NKJV) According to what God told the people of Israel, a woman who is a virgin, is valuable even if she is enticed by a man to sleep with him. Her value is the same as if she was sought properly. Even if the father of the woman is not willing to let her be the man’s wife, she has the value of a wife anyway. God has set a wonderful principle about His value of us. The word "entice" has the meaning of "opening to make roomy." This implies that the woman has been opened to believe what is not true, "to be causatively made simple" by the man. Even though she may have acted this way and is deluded, she is still valuable and is to be treated as valuable. We are valuable to God even though we may have been deluded or made simple. We are to be treated as valuable and are to treat others as valuable, even if deluded. It may be hard to understand how someone can be deluded when they seem to be smart enough to not be deluded. We are all subject to delusion if we are not tightly tucked in with Truth. What a wonderful picture of redemption from the delusions of sin. Walk in the atonement. |
